I am not interes...The earlier ones might be better. I am not interested in evaluating books and cannot say anything of their quality but I believe my own behavior might be a bit indicative. Scarpettas were among the first detective stories I read. My mom read them and I read the books she read. I enjoyed reading what Scarpetta found in the post mortems or crime scenes and how it led to the criminal. When a new book in the series was released I always wanted to read them.

Then something happened. The books lost their appeal. The characters became so negative, they were always arguing, the criminals were like cats who brought their prey to Scarpettas doorstep and the crimes were related to Scarpetta or people around her. I also didn't like how their wealth was rubbed in my face. I no more read any new Cornwell stuff. I wonder if she writes them herself any more. The last parts of the Scarpetta series seemed so faceless and as if they were written by a marketing algorithm.

I guess I should read the first ones again to see if they were decent or if the change was more about myself growing up.Reiskahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14905028052881956461noreply@blogger.com
