I'm convinced that Whiskey and Water has more impact if you read Ink & Steel and Hell & Earth in between Blood & Iron and Whiskey & Water. Those two are set in Elizabethan England and fill in a lot of back story, especially with the immortal characters. <br /><br />I found the ending of this really solid, but the two Elizabethan books really set that up for me.<br /><br />I feel like the publisher did some weird stuff with this series as far as timing and publishing order goes.
