This Week's Question:
Are You Able to Read in the Car?
I used to read in the car a lot, but it's not a common thing anymore. Now that it's my husband and I travelling together, I tend to spend the time talking to him. I also used to read more on the bus, which I take practically everywhere, but that's fallen off as well. I spend that time just travelling, trying to be mindful and engaged in what's going on around me. Long bus rides to a different city, yes, I will definitely read.
So it depends on where I'm going, who I'm with, and how long it will take! From a pure ability standpoint, yes, I absolutely can read in the car. I just sometimes choose not to.

Like you, I can read in the car if my husband is driving, but then there are times, on long road trips, that he does want me to talk to him. It all depends, though. And sometimes, also like you, I want to be aware of what's going on around me, so I can't concentrate on a book. As for buses, no matter how short the trip, I can't read in them. I always end up falling asleep! Lol.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing! Happy reading, and have a great weekend!! : )
Yeah, I don't know how to drive, so I'm designated conversationalist in the car with my husband on long trips. :)
DeleteI also used to fall asleep in moving vehicles at the drop of a hat, and certainly I do nap for a bit at the start of every trip!
I'm similar. I can read in the car just fine, but don't do it often anymore. Not like I used to. With my husband and daughter in the car, I'd much rather interact with them. Sometimes too, I like to gaze out the window and take in my surroundings. :-)
ReplyDeleteYes, exactly! We don't own a car, so it's not often we rent one and go on a long trip. So when we do, I want to enjoy it.
DeleteReading in the car doesn't bother me.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't read while traveling especially on public transportation. I get too lost when I read, and I most likely would miss my stop. :)
Hope you are having a good weekend.
Happy Hopping!!

I have a fair ride (and one very large left turn) to get downtown, so I don't find it too hard to remember to get off. :)
DeleteAnd I hope you are too!
I read and take a break to talk then read then talk....
